The 2009 Bonnes-Mares is cool, implosive and totally reticent. In other words, classic young Bonnes-Mares. Sweet red cherries, flowers and mint sit on a bright, sinewy frame that gradually relaxes just enough to release the wine’s potential. There is more than enough verve and structure to support several decades of fine drinking. Today the blend of Dujac’s holdings in Bonnes-Mares is approximately equally divided between terres rouges and terres blanches. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2044. - WA

Dark cherry red. Still quite severe on the nose though there is clearly a lot hidden down there. Great depths. Rich black cherries. Lively and polished. Just not very expressive at the moment. Very solid. Dry finish. - JR
