The NV Blanc Singulier 2018 Édition is a new wine from Ruinart done Brut Nature, with no dosage, meant to represent a contemporary expression of Champagne. Bright and beautifully focused, the Blanc Singulier offers up scents of lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and chalk. Although 2018 was the warmest year ever in Champagne, the 2018 impresses with its considerable nervous energy and overall brilliance. About 20% of the blend is composed of reserve wines aged in cask, which no doubt adds to its overall complexity. I imagine future releases will be even more compelling. Main fruit sources are Côte des Blancs (Bergère-les-Vertus, Oger, Le Mesnil), Montagne de Reims (Taissy) and Côteau d’Epernay. - VM

The NV Blanc Singulier from Ruinart reveals a delicately citrusy bouquet with aromas of spring flowers, almonds, honeysuckle and ripe orchard fruits. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textured with bright acids and a lively core of fruit that finishes long and mouthwatering. With no dosage, this Blanc de Blancs is crafted with 80% of the 2018 vintage and 20% of reserve wines. The vins clairs go through full malolactic and are fermented and matured in stainless steel.
