To taste the wines of Henri Jayer is to experience one of the rarest and most extraordinary expressions of Burgundy ever produced. Revered as a pioneer and perfectionist, Jayer's wines redefined what great Burgundy could be, and they remain some of the most sought-after wines in the world. We are honored to host this extraordinary dinner showcasing the ultra-rare wines of this legendary winemaker.

Henri Jayer (1922–2006) was a transformative figure in Burgundy, whose influence spanned the late 1970s through the early 1990s. His career began in 1944 when he was approached by the Camuzet family to tend their vines, resulting in a sharecropping agreement that lasted until his first retirement in 1987. Even after stepping back, he continued consulting for Méo-Camuzet until 1992. Beyond his work with the Camuzet family, Jayer owned a few vines himself and made wines for his brothers, Georges and Lucien, who each owned vineyards. He produced his own wines until 1995, transferring his holdings to his nephew Emmanuel Rouget but retaining a barrel of his iconic Cros Parantoux until 2001. Henri also continued to make wines for his brother Georges from 1988 to 2001. Jayer passed away in 2006, leaving behind a legacy that continues to captivate collectors and connoisseurs.

Jayer's reputation was cemented in the late 1970s when he revolutionized his vinification methods, including total destemming, pre-fermentation cold soaks, extensive use of new oak, no filtration, and hand bottling. Henri paid meticulous attention to cleanliness in the cellar and kept the wines regularly topped up in cask to avoid oxidation. The results were wines that set a new standard for Burgundy. We are thrilled to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the ultra-rare wines of Henri Jayer.
