This formidable Château traces its origins back to the early sixteenth century and stands as one of the largest and finest estates in Pomerol. Known as Vieux Château Certan, or VCC, it has been producing exceptional wines for decades. The older vintages of VCC are particularly noted for their refinement and elegance. Situated near the border of Saint-Émilion, on a plateau not far from Cheval Blanc and close to Pétrus, VCC benefits from one of Bordeaux’s premier terroirs. Unlike Pétrus, which is nearly 100% Merlot, VCC is renowned for its high proportion of Cabernet Franc, complemented by a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon. This blend imparts a Médocian complexity and a fine structure, favoring black currant over plum.
